The likeable BROADWAY JOE (best price 7/4) comes here chasing a hat-trick and he looks to have plenty going for him again. He is a perfect 2-2 over fences after staying on well over C&D to win with plenty in hand last month. He is up another 7lb but there is more in the locker if called upon and this looks a good opportunity for him to go in again. Away At Dawn should go hard off the front and an end to end gallop would definitely suit the selection as he likes to be ridden patiently before coming through. Granted the latter isn’t given too much rope up front then Just Call Me Al looks the most likely danger. He is a decent yardstick who was back to winning ways over hurdles at Sedgefield last month and ran right up to form when a close second back over fences at Carlisle. Of the rest The Blame Game also has to be considered having run well albeit over hurdles last time.

I’m surprised Carey Street is as short as he is here as he only prevailed by a neck over C&D last time and the second has been beaten since. I know he is only up 2lb but I think he might struggle to back that up. I much prefer the chances of STARFIGHTER (best price 9/4) for Mark Loughnane. This horse likes this C&D having won over it back in March. He has been beaten four times since returning from a short break and as a result his mark has tumbled down to just 70 now. He needs things to drop right but I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t go close in this company. I expect him to be ridden fairly prominently so with a bit of luck he’ll be in the box seat turning in under Probert who often judges things to a nicety. Hector’s Here has also scored over track and trip in the past and he’d also be a danger but does need to bounce back. Alyara is well bred but has gone off the boil lately.
