The Michael Scudamore trained Rollercoaster (best priced at 12/1) won on her stable debut last year following a wind operation and a break and she bids to do the same again this year. That victory was her first run since leaving Claire Dyson where she returned from a 523 day break to win easily at Bangor by 11 lengths.
Rollercoaster was raised 11lb for that success from a mark of 75 up to 86 but following two below par efforts since she has dropped down to a mark of 83. The nine-year-old now returns from a 319 day break following another wind operation and it could be that she just runs her best races when fresh. Bookmakers are offering five places on the race and hopefully she runs well to hit the frame.
14:30 Lingfield
Fearless sets the standard in this race judged upon his 2nd placed effort on his chasing debut last month but I am going to take a chance on Galop De Chasse (best priced at 7/2) on his stable debut for Venetia Williams. The five-year-old was a winning hurdler in France for Daniela Mele but put in a good performance over fences when last seen at Le Lion-D’Angers when only beaten a short head.
Venetia Williams has a great record with horses making their reappearances in novice handicap chases so I feel Galop De Chasse is worth a chance in this off a mark of 112.

The Samuel Drinkwater trained Gallic Geordie (best priced at 11/4) made it 2/2 at Lingfield when he won over this course and distance 25 days ago and he should hold strong claims of completing a hat-trick of course wins. The eight-year-old won a novices’ handicap chase in December 2020 over this course and distance in heavy ground off a mark of 80 before winning again over this course and distance last month off a mark of 81.
The handicapper has raised Gallic Geordie 11lb for that 2 ¼ length victory but Robbie Dunne took it extremely easily after the last that day that the winning margin doesn’t tell the whole story. Richard Patrick, who rode him to his other career success, takes over on board and I think he should prove hard to beat.
