I think COPPER MOUNTAIN (best price 2/1) has improved with every run since going handicapping and she deserved to get her head in front at Chelmsford last time. She battled it out with the right two horses and was going away at the line to win fairly impressively for the grade. She is up 6lb from that but has Joanna Mason claiming a handy 3lb again. She can take a bit of time to pick up so I wouldn’t want to see her too far off the pace. A high draw is favourable here so she has that in favour. Dajarus and Sweet Mist look likely to put the pace to the race so hopefully she gets a good toe in and is in the box seat to pounce. Sandie’s Dream is bred to be better than she has shown so far and given how lightly raced she is should have more to come so looks the obvious danger to the selection.

There is no doubt OBEY THE RULES (best price 13/8) is at the top of his game right now and even though he was beaten at Leicester last time he put in a good shift and the winner looks a decent type. He wasn’t given a hard time when failing to close the gap so is better than the bare margin for me. The form looks solid and off the same mark here he looks well placed to make it 3 wins from his last 5 starts. I think Brian Hughes will be positive on him given the lack of pace in the field and if he can put together a clear round of jumping he should take an awful lot of beating. Claret Dabbler is obviously the interesting one in opposition as he ran well when 4lb out the weights over C&D last time and he should come on for that fitness-wise but for me he still has enough to find with the selection. Getaway Jewel is also a danger if his jumping holds up.
