This looks a competitive 0-120 handicap but preference goes to the consistent MR WASHINGTON (best priced at 8-1) who continues to progress up the ratings. The nine-year-old has form figures of 1111412 since joining Tom Symonds and has improved from a mark of 92 up to a mark of 119.

Mr Washington finished only ½ length behind Quick Draw last time at Uttoxeter but the pair pulled 17 lengths clear of the third and the winner has since finished 2nd behind the extremely well handicapped Vee Dancer who was completing a hat-trick. The handicapper has raised Mr Washington 5lbs for his effort last time but he remains progressive and should once again run well for the in-form stable (33% strike rate in the last two weeks) with up to five places available.

There looks to be a lot of potential improvers in this 0-55 handicap for three-year-olds but I am taking a chance on the Richard Hannon trained GUITAR (best priced at 7-1). The son of Mayson has form figures of 068 in his three starts to date but those appear to have been over distances too short based on his running style.

Guitar has been given an opening mark of 47 but most interestingly is now stepped up in trip from 6f up to a mile for his handicap debut. He has looked outpaced over shorter trips on all of his three starts so far and I am hoping that the combination of stepping up in trip and the application of first time cheekpieces will spark improvement out of the gelding.

The Philip Kirby trained FIRCOMBE HALL (best priced at 2-1) is the only horse in this race coming into it having finished 3rd or higher in any of their previous six starts. With recent form figures of 3213 he easily sets the standard in this race and he should prove hard to beat over this course and distance.

Fircombe Hall is a two-time course and distance winner off a mark of 52 and also has further placed efforts over this course and distance off marks of 50, 54, 51 and 54 with his latest 3rd placed finish coming only 21 days ago. The handicapper has dropped him 1lb down to a mark of 53 and he should run well yet again in his preferred conditions.
