I’m sticking with 4-time course winner SPARTAN FIGHTER at Newcastle on Thursday. This son of Dutch Art did us proud prevailing by a head over track and trip last month and he showed a really good attitude on that occasion to get the better of the argument where it mattered. He has won 3 of his last 4 now and the form of that last win has been franked with the fourth Kind Review winning easily next time out. He has only been nudged up 1lb and given the potential for an easy lead he should have a great chance of making all under Cam Hardie. Millionaire Waltz saw his winning run come to an end last time and is facing a tougher calibre of horse here so needs more. Sir Maxi might emerge as the danger having only gone down narrowly last time but the winner has let that form down since.

I thought GALOP DE CHASSE ran out an impressive winner at Lingfield on debut for this yard. He took a while to realise what was required but once Charlie Deutsch gathered him up he really galloped out strongly and was nicely on top at the line. The handicapper has raised him 7lb but he brings untapped potential to the table and I’m expecting him to improve. It should be a good race with Can You Call and the market is reflecting that. The latter fell when looking the most likely winner at Hereford so if putting in a clean round should go close. I just think the selection has a lot going for him and is perhaps open to greater progress on the balance. Early Du Lemo also fell when last seen but he is arguably well treated if managing to stay on his feet this time around.
