This is fairly low-grade stuff being a Class 6 but I thought SURREY TERRITORIES produced quite an eye-catching effort when running on strongly for fourth over 6f here on Tuesday. He just couldn’t go the pace early but made good headway in the closing stages and was nearest finish beaten just under 2 lengths at the line. That was only his third run in a handicap and he produced a decent speed figure in defeat. Stepping back up to 7f this afternoon looks ideal and with added fitness on side racing off the same mark he looks well placed to make the breakthrough under Jim Crowley. Storm Asset is the obvious danger on his penultimate effort at Chelmsford but I did think he was disappointing at Newcastle and he isn’t certain to take to the first-time cheekpieces. Deadly Weapon is also noted on handicap debut but she hasn’t shown much yet so can only be watched.
