Whittle Le Woods is likely to be popular here after going down just a neck on debut for this yard at Newcastle last time but he hasn’t won for nearly a year now and might be opposable. He is a lot shorter than I thought he’d be and he has already disappointed at cramped odds. I much prefer the chances of LEGENDE D’ART (best price 4/1) for Henry Spiller. This son of Kingman clocked a career best winning over C&D last month and given how well that form has worked out since a 3lb rise is unlikely to stop him going close again. The second Blue Flame and fifth Late Arrival have both won since so it looks very solid. The cheekpieces go back on which should help sharpen him up and with plenty of pace on I can see him picking them up in the closing stages. Porfin has a decent turn of foot and will enjoy coming back in trip but might just prove vulnerable late.
