This doesn’t look a strong contest so I’ll be surprised if COOLAGH MAGIC (best price 15/8) doesn’t go close. He won over 7f here in September last year and is only 3lb higher. He has been beaten twice since but went down less than 2 lengths at Kempton last time and that looks strong form for the level. There is plenty of pace on with the likes of One Day, Shanghai Rock and Vincenzo Coccotti all pushing forward and that should help the selection as he looks to pick them up late. Harry Davies has been booked for the ride and claims a handy 7lb which will also help. The danger looks to be Big Time Maybe having run well when third at Lingfield last time. His best form is over the minimum trip though so he might be vulnerable in the closing stages. Bungledyupinblue could be best of the rest off an encouraging fourth at Southwell.

Venetia Williams remains in very good form and she has another good chance of a winner on Friday in the shape of DON HERBAGER (best price 7/4). I’ve always been a fan of this horse and he put his reappearance run behind to win impressively at Lingfield last month. He was given a patient ride and came through from off the pace to stay on strongly towards the line. He is up 5lb but looks up to defying that if in the same sort of form here. Stamina looks his strongpoint so a further step up in trip is only going to help. He has first-time cheekpieces on too which will help keep his mind on the job. The danger could be Dalkingstown who was in the process of running well before falling at the last at Ffos Las. If he can put in a clear round he should be involved. Grey Atlantic Way is a big price and may well snatch the remaining place.
