Night Of Thunder filly SOCIAL CONTACT looks poised to strike at Southwell on Sunday. Roger Varian’s 3yo shaped with plenty of promise on sole start as a 2yo when fourth at Newcastle in September last year and she went even closer up in trip on return at Wolverhampton last month. She was only headed late and the winner Poptronic looks a filly with potential for Karl Burke. She drops back to 7f here and that should suit and I think she is the most likely winner. Invincible Spirit Pluperfect looks the most obvious danger to the selection if she has improved since that Kempton fourth. She did lose a couple of places late on that occasion so like the selection will appreciate dropping back in trip here. Of the rest Kissininthebackrow is also noted but will definitely need to improve again to win this.

Three of these are quite close in the betting but I think STAINSBY GIRL is a standout here. She looked to need her comeback run when only fourth of six at Musselburgh but quickly stepped forward from that to finish a very good second at Haydock last month. The front pair pulled 6 and a half lengths clear from the rest and the winner has since bolted up by 7 and a half lengths to strongly frank the form. She is up 3lb but the drop back in trip looks ideal and I think she is primed to run a big race. The danger could be Word Has It if he manages to put in a clear round. He fell at the first over fences at Haydock last time and is reverted back to hurdles here so should play a hand. Of the rest Elvis Mail is a solid yardstick but he hasn’t won for a while now and was beaten some 8 lengths at Aintree when last seen.
