I really liked the way BOBHOPEORNOHOPE (best price 5/2) grinded it out to score at Market Rasen last month. He showed a great attitude under pressure and found plenty to open his account over fences. The second Omar Maretti won his next start at Newcastle earlier in the week so the form has been franked since. The third Seven No Trumps had won impressively at Lingfield heading into that so I think the form is very solid. He remains open to further improvement on what is just his fourth start over fences and I think he’ll take a lot of beating here up just 5lb. This is competitive but this former point winner has a bright future in this sphere and can emerge victorious. Karl Philippe was beaten heavily at Ascot but that race has worked out really well since. He reportedly bled on that occasion so if he bounces back he is a danger but has enough to prove on the balance.

I think it’s worth focusing on those with experience here and SWINTON (best price 5/2) appeals the most of them. This son of Lope De Vega finished fifth on debut over C&D and he looked as though he’d come on plenty for the experience. He was held up off the pace and only really got going late when the race was over. He should know a lot more now and the sixth Imperial Mountain has given the form plenty of substance winning his next 3 starts in the style of a promising colt. Dion Baker also finished fifth on debut but looked quite a weak horse. He has been given time since so if he has strengthened up he might emerge as the main danger as he is certainly bred to be pretty useful being by Ribchester. Starspangledbanner colt How Impressive is the most interesting of the debutants but he’ll need to be pretty forward to take this.
