GYTO's Saturday notebook double pays 7/1.
A good race to cap off the card at Ascot on Saturday and the Dan Skelton-trained GALIA DES LITEAUX (best price 7/4) is strongly fancied to remain unbeaten. This mare by Saddler Maker was snapped up by connections after winning an Irish point impressively. She certainly lived up to expectation winning by 30 lengths on hurdles debut at Wetherby. She travelled powerfully for Harry Skelton and as soon as he gave her an inch of rein the race looked to be over. She came clear from 2 out and confirmed herself as a lovely prospect going forward. This will be more of a test but she is sure to improve from that initial effort under Rules and she can make it a perfect 2-2 for this yard. Complete Unknown again ran well in defeat over C&D last month and looks the danger on that form. He should also have more to come so it should be a good race between the pair.
It often pays to stick with a horse in winning form in this grade and VAXHOLM (best price 15/8) fits the bill following a career best at Lingfield last time. This 3yo has won 3 of his last 5 now and that recent piece of form has been franked since with the second Midgetonamission deservedly getting his head in front at Lingfield. He goes up 4lb from that but can improve again stepping up to a mile and a half for the first time and comfortably looks the most likely winner for me. Samurai Sneddz reacted well to cheekpieces when an improved fourth at Southwell last time and if he can build on that again he might have a say in the finish. Little Emma Loulou is also unexposed and will be suited by this emphasis on stamina being by Jack Hobbs. Black Echo hasn’t looked the most straightforward so needs more and I can’t see anything at bigger prices springing an upset in here.
