CAROLINE DALE (best price 10-1) was narrowly foiled by a late surge from Mondammej last-time-out at Wolverhampton but meets that rival on a lot better terms here and, having undergone wind surgery since that excellent performance in defeat, David Loughnane’s filly can gain revenge at the East Midlands venue.

This filly was a smart two-year-old, who was placed in a Group Two, and has performed well enough the last two times to indicate that she might be on the verge of a return to the winners enclosure. The assessor has taken a lenient view of her latest display, reducing her mark a pound and, although she has a bit of work to do against the market leaders, this venue should play more to her strengths and she could be a lively player at a big price.

Kaboo will prove popular as he goes in search of the hat-trick but MOJOMAKER (best price 5-1) was a place in front of the former when the pair clashed in a listed event at Sandown last year and, if able to put his best foot forward on polytrack debut, he should be able to give the favourite one of two problems under Rossa Ryan.

This three-year-old wasn’t able to justify favouritism when last spotted but that return should have blown away the cobwebs and he seems to have been overlooked based on that one display as his form last year is some of the best on offer. He was set a fair amount of stiff exams last term but acquitted himself effectively well, including when fourth in the William Hill Two Year Old Trophy at Redcar. He doesn’t have as much to find with the favourite despite the ratings suggesting otherwise and he’s a danger to all in this field of taking to the surface.
