A 5lb rise makes life tougher though off a career-high mark and I think he might be opposable at short odds. DESQUE DE L’ISLE is the one I have in my notes for this. He resumed his progression winning over C&D on return following a wind op back in November and while he has been beaten 3 times since he certainly hasn’t been disgraced. The handicapper has relented another couple of pounds again and this definitely looks easier. He will need to settle better as he did race too keenly at Wincanton last time but with a thriving Charlie Deutsch back in the saddle that has to be a big positive to his chances.

19:20 Wolverhampton

With 3 wins from his last 4 BARE GRILS looks the one to beat at Wolverhampton again on Tuesday night. That was a career-best winning by 2 lengths over C&D last time and even up 7lb will be hard to beat if replicating that. Danny Muscutt will push forward and I think he’ll make all the running again. He has a good draw from stall 3 and the other pace in the race is Cuban Breeze who is drawn out wide in 10 so I don’t think he’ll have any issue getting on the lead early. The danger looks to be Mick’s Spirit who won impressively over this trip at Lingfield in November and while he has been beaten 3 times since he has come down 3lb now which will help him. At a bigger price Scale Force might be value to hit the frame as that was a good race he finished fourth in last time.
