16:45 Newcastle

Two hat-trick seekers going head-to-head here and I much prefer the chances of TELL’EM NOWT (best price 5/2) for Phil McEntee. This son of Belardo has actually won 3 of his last 4 now and is a hard horse to be punished by the assessor as he only ever seems to do just enough. He was always coming home in front over C&D last time and the front pair pulled some 6 and a half lengths clear from the third so that was another real likeable effort. He carries a 5lb penalty but if in the same form is going to take a lot of stopping. Blazing Hot is also thriving but he is better over the minimum trip so this step back up against a horse on the improve in the selection makes this a tough ask despite an unchanged mark. Deevious Beau was narrowly denied by the selection last time so won’t be far away either.

19:00 Dundalk

Camelot filly HAVANA PEARL (best price 11/8) looks to have a great chance of making the breakthrough at Dundalk on Friday night. She desperately needed the outing when down the field on debut but returned an improved horse when beaten just a length over 7f here back in December. She did some good late work on that occasion and with natural improvement stepping up to a mile for the first time should take the beating here under Ronan Whelan. The danger is likely Silk Damask who was denied just three-quarters of a length over 7f here last month and that looks a solid run with the sixth Mna Na Mhi winning her next start to give the form some substance. Knightlaila also has to enter the reckoning having been beaten just a length on debut over C&D. She will need to improve on that but is certainly entitled to.
