This looks quite a good maiden hurdle and a race that I think will throw up a few nice types going forward. MISTER SPLASH (best price 4/1) was the one that caught my eye on both recent performances and in the market. Inexperience got the better of him on debut in a bumper at Ffos Las but he did step forward from that when sent off 100/1 on his hurdling debut at Wincanton. He was ultimately well held in fifth but looked to be learning on the job and was sure to do better for the experience. He duly took a sizeable step forward to go down just a length and a half to Natty Night at Taunton last month and with further progress on the cards up in trip he looks good value here at 4/1. The danger is Lassue for Fergal O’Brien who also showed ability when second at Exeter on hurdles debut but is half the price of the selection. Foxinthebox also has to be noted if bouncing back.
