There seem to be plenty of no-hopers in this 0-105 handicap hurdle and preference goes to the Philip Hobbs trained IBERIO (best priced at 7/1). The five-year-old was good enough to win a Newton Abbot bumper on his debut where he beat subsequent winner Lallygag by nearly two lengths. Iberio has performed below market expectations on his three starts over hurdles so far but he now makes his handicap debut off a lowly opening mark of 94.

Connections also fit Iberio with first time cheekpieces and these should make the job of Michael Nolan a lot easier throughout the race. Muy Bien is respected upped in trip for the first time but I much prefer the chances of Iberio on handicap debut instead.

Iberio - 0.5pts e/w @ 7/1

Walk In Clover will no doubt prove popular in this race having got off the mark over hurdles last time at Leicester but I feel she will struggle to concede a penalty to CHORAL WORK (best price 9/2). The daughter of Nathaniel was a 1m4f winner for Cheveley Park Stud when trained by William Haggas before outrunning odds of 40/1 to finish 2nd on her hurdling debut at Thurles on her stable debut for Ellmarie Holden.

Choral Work was only beaten ½ length that day but has since sold for £52,000 at Cheltenham in November and transferred to Olly Murphy. She makes her stable debut here and I expect her to be involved in the finish on her second hurdles start.

The likes of Slate House and Topofthecotswolds face question marks about their current form and preference instead goes to the Harry Fry trained REVELS HILL (best priced at 5/2). The seven-year-old won at Warwick on his final start last season before running with credit to finish 4th on his chasing debut this season at Wetherby. He finished 2nd on his next start at Hereford and the form of that run has been boosted by the winner Powerstown Park winning again since off a 9lb higher mark.
Revels Hill was still travelling well last time at Southwell when unseating Lorcan Murtagh at the 4th last flight and he should prove hard to beat with Kevin Brogan (who rode him to victory at Warwick) back on board.
