BELLATRIXSA (NAP) (best price 15-8) proved no match for the aggressively-ridden West To The Bridge at Chepstow last time out, but at the same time, she did more than enough to suggest she could be in for another productive season and today’s contest could well be when that viewpoint comes to fruition.

Off the track for 215 days on return to the fray, the daughter of Gregorian was still expected to go well judged on the market vibes and you’d have to say she did very little wrong. Take the winner out and she would have battered the rest and with the time figure of the winner very good for the grade, her effort is worth more than a pound of flesh. A winner over today’s C&D last season, a return to the quaint Shropshire track should spark off good memories and hailing from a yard continuing to thrive, the Venetia Williams-trained mare makes loads of appeal off her current rating.

The Premier League midweek slate continues on Wednesday and one of the more intriguing clash comes at Villa Park where Leeds are the visitors. 

The West Yorkshire club have been typically open and attacking of late, particularly when on the road where their last three fixtures have seen a whopping 17 goals. That’s even without last season's top scorer Patrick Bamford who remains out injured along with other key players in Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper. 

If Marcelo Bielsa keeps the Whites in the league considering their injury issues whilst still playing an attractive style of football then it should go down as a success. Their exceptional efforts last season were always a standard that would be hard to live up to. 

Hosts Aston Villa have largely been better since Steven Gerrard came in as manager. They’ve won five, drawn one and lost four but considering three of those defeats were against Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea they can be excused. 

This fixture represents a much more winnable task for Gerrard and co and that is reflected in the odds with Villa odds on at 4/5 to win. That is probably about fair but makes little appeal in terms of value.

Maybe taking the better price about both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at even-money could be a nicer way in. Leeds are always good for a goal but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Villa notched a couple against a far from watertight defence.
