GYTO's Saturday notebook double pays 8/1.
13:45 Lingfield
The progressive DESERT EMPEROR (best price 9-4) can return to winning ways at Lingfield on Saturday. I just think the drop back in trip caught him out at Newcastle last month and back up to a mile and a half where he has won 3 of his last 4 over this trip he can get back in the winners enclosure. He is just 1lb higher here and given how well that win over Morlaix has worked out he can defy this career-high mark. The main danger in the betting looks to be the hat-trick seeking Melakaz but he is going to face pace pressure on the speed from the likes of Creationist and Finniston Farm and that could help set it up for the selection. Marion’s Boy loves it here and may end up posing a greater threat after being denied just a head over 1m2f here last month. Koeman is consistent too but may find a couple too good again.
14:40 Warwick
I’ve been really impressed with FINE CASTING (best price 15-8) the last twice and despite a 6lb rise I see no reason why he can’t bring up the hat-trick at Warwick on Saturday. He deserved to get his head in front at Ffos Las back in December but improved again to win convincingly at Newbury last month and I thought it was notable how well he hit the line. He looks a horse ahead of the handicapper and with potential to progress again he can make it 3 in a row. Osprey Call deserves a mention at a big price but he needs to put in a clear round which has been quite a big ask recently. He is handicapped to get involved but needs to get his confidence back to get competitive. Horizon D’Ainay represents Dan Skelton so should have more to come and may end up being the one to chase the selection home.
