Steve Ryder is back with two selections for today's action.
15:05 Newbury
The Colin Tizzard trained AMARILLO SKY (best priced at 11/4) has shown improved form this season since novice chasing and should be able to make amends for a fall at the second last fence last month. The six-year-old had previously won at Wincanton off a mark of 128 before finishing 2nd at Ascot in December behind Brave Seasca. The pair pulled 8 ½ lengths clear of the third that day and the winner has since boosted the form and is now rated 18lbs higher.
Amarillo Sky ran off a mark of 131 that day so looks well handicapped off only 4lbs higher in comparison and he would have won last time over this course and distance if he hadn’t have fallen at the second last fence. Barring mishaps I expect him to prove hard to beat.
15:40 Newbury
The Sean Curran trained DOUKAROV (best priced at 10/1) has shown good form at Newbury on his two starts here this season and looks overpriced in a competitive 0-125 handicap chase. The seven-year-old won a handicap chase here in December off a mark of 113 before finishing 3rd over this same course and distance later in the month off a mark of 119.
Doukarov finished 2nd behind Somekindofastar at Fakenham last month off a mark of 118 when only beaten 1 ¼ length and he should run well yet again with Jack Wildman taking off a valuable 7lbs off only a 1lb higher mark.
