With Strong Power now out at Newcastle I’m going to put forward WHITTLE LE WOODS as a replacement Notebook runner a little later on the card. This horse could only finish fourth at Lingfield last time but the race didn’t really pan out favourably and I thought he shaped with plenty of credit again. Off the same mark eased slightly in class I think he has a major opportunity to regain the winning groove. The danger is probably the thriving Internationalangel but she has been weak in the betting this morning and up another 6lb she will find this tougher. Dutch Decoy has been consistent recently and with the cheekpieces back on he could also have a say in the finish.

The hat-trick seeking THAPA VC (best price 15/8) looks worth keeping on side at Kempton on Wednesday night. This son of The Gurkha did well to win at Wolverhampton over this trip last month and I thought he ran a big race to follow up (dead-heat) over the same track and trip last time. He was away a touch slow and probably had to come with his effort a bit sooner than ideal. He runs here off just a 1lb higher mark and remains open to further improvement. Soyounique has been holding his form well and back up to 7f should suit so he looks the danger. Run Forrest Run was only beaten 2 lengths at Lingfield last time and if building on that should also be involved for a place. Port Noir is another one with a squeak from a good draw but again I’m not sure she will be able to hold off the selection who will be coming fast in the closing stages.
