Following a 16/1 place yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with two selections for today's action.
14:50 Fontwell
The Olly Murphy trained BREWIN'UPASTORM (best priced at 2-1) is unlucky not to be unbeaten this season and he should be able to repeat his victory in this race last year. The nine-year-old has developed a consistent profile since returning to hurdles with form figures of 1151F1 with his fifth placed finish coming in the Grade 1 Aintree Hurdle last season.
Brewin’upastorm fell at the last when making his challenge in the Grade 2 Relkeel Hurdle on New Year’s Day before bouncing back in the valuable hurdle at Lingfield later that month when he beat the reopposing Darver Star and subsequent Grade 2 Kingwell Hurdle winner Goshen. The five-year-old Monmiral looks the biggest danger if he can bounce back from his reappearance effort in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle where he finished lame but I fancy Brewin’upastorm to prove too strong.
17:10 Hereford
The Jamie Snowden trained EBONELLO (best priced at 5-2) ran well to finish 3rd on her racecourse debut and the form of that race is working out well. The winner Mullenbeg has won a listed mares’ bumper at Cheltenham by 5 ½ lengths on her next start and the runner-up You Wear It Well has won a bumper at Catterick on her next start by five lengths.
Ebonello proved best of the rest a further 2 ¼ lengths back in third and she should be able to use that experience to defeat the Paul Nicholls trained newcomer Game Winner and Donaire who is returning from a 358 day break.
