Slade Power mare PURPLE POWER looks primed to go close at Newcastle on Tuesday night. I know she is trading as favourite but 7/2 looks generous to me so she will be my selection despite figuring prominently in the betting. She made a promising start on debut for this yard bumping into an improver over 6f here last month. She stayed on well at the finish and runs off the same mark so if she builds on that encouraging run she will be hitting the line hard with Hollie Doyle taking over in the saddle. Her win at Chelmsford over this trip back in the summer was promising and she is only 3lb higher than that so has plenty going for her. Viva Voce and Clear Angel are expected to give her most to think about with the former probably narrowly preferred. He is up a further 3lb though so that will make things tougher.
