GYTO's Tuesday notebook double pays 9/1.
13:00 Newcastle
I was given good word for TFOU on his debut in a bumper at Ayr and despite being heavily punted he could only finish second. Inexperience clearly cost him that day and by the time the penny dropped the race was over. He ran on well but was never able to challenge. The winner Burn The Evidence won her next start on debut over hurdles by 21 lengths so the form was certainly given a nice compliment. I know she has since been turned over at short odds but she had excuses that day. The selection looks sure to improve on hurdles debut and this looks a good starting point with Brian Hughes in the saddle. The danger looks to be Hasty Brook after winning in good style on debut over hurdles at Clonmel. He has since switched yards and has more to come but it won’t be easy giving the selection 7lb and I think that could make the difference.
16:05 Sandown
It’s been a good season for Jamie Snowden and he potentially has another smart type on his hands in the shape of the unbeaten GIT MAKER. This Irish point winner made a perfect start over hurdles at Chepstow, staying on strongly to win by 4 and a half lengths. He probably didn’t beat a great deal that day but had no problem following up at Carlisle and I thought that was particularly impressive as he was keen enough as well. The second Masked Crusader has paid the form a handsome compliment since winning by some 31 lengths next time out and with further improvement to come, he can make it 3-3 here. An opening mark of 124 could prove lenient and he is worth keeping firmly onside. The danger is likely Fifty Ball who should find this easier and finished second in this last year. Benson is talented but far from straightforward.
