GYTO Notebook Double

A fair bit of potential lining up for this novice hurdle but I’m confident TRELAWNE (best price 7/4) can come out on top for Kim Bailey and remain unbeaten. I thought he looked the real deal winning by 18 lengths on debut over timber here last month and with further improvement to come stepping up in trip he looks a horse to keep firmly on the right side of today and going forward. I still thought he was babyish in the closing stages which you’d expect so if he is sharper here he should be capable of an even bigger performance. This is tougher so he’ll need to improve but I really liked what I saw on debut and he gets a confident vote to make it a perfect 2-2. I think either Earth Lord or Flemenstide could emerge as the danger and I’d probably say the latter might be the one to give him most to think about. No disgraced bumping into Unanswered Prayers at Wincanton latest.

The progressive GOVERNMENT (best price 9/4) can follow up at Wolverhampton on Friday night. This son of Caravaggio has improved with every run and looked to relish the step up to a mile to win unchallenged at Southwell last month. He had Illuminated a length and three-quarters behind in second with the field nicely strung out. He has to give that rival 4lb so it should be close between that pair again but the extra yardage here I think will suit the selection better so he gets the vote to come away with the prize again. They both look nice horses going forward so it should be a race that works out well in time. Nathaniel colt Aegis Power is lightly raced and ran well when second at Newmarket back in October. He is also open to improvement so shouldn’t be entirely ruled out but might need a bit more time and experience to be seen to best effect.
