There was lots to like about the way UNANSWERED PRAYERS (best price 11/4) beat Flemenstide at Wincanton back in January. While he has been beaten twice since he certainly didn’t shape without promise again behind Skytastic at Ascot last month and given this looks easier I think he can get back on track. I can see Plumpton suiting him and with potential to do better still he looks to have a great chance of getting the better of Hecouldbetheone again. That rival ran in the same race as the selection last time but was heavily beaten down the field. He did lead early though and probably paid for it in the closing stages. Jazz King has been frustrating and while it remains fairly early days with him still I think he might be opposable again. On collateral form he has a bit to find anyway. Super Duper Sam will likely be involved too but also needs more.

Stepping up to two miles for the first time on the level CATBIRD SEAT (best price 10/3) could find himself back in the winners enclosure. He won over a mile and a half as a 3yo and while that remains his only success to date he did show plenty following a wind op when a close third at Lingfield. He mixed it with the right horses at Southwell last month and should be spot on for this sort of test now. He could come into his own up in trip now and I’ll be surprised if he can’t take advantage off a mark of just 66. Smart Boyo got off the mark at Kempton and then ran a good second here over slightly shorter last time. He looks the danger to the selection on recent form but I’m not sure how much more is to come. Blue Medici will need a good pace to aim at but if he gets that he could also have a squeak in the finish here as well in a good race for the grade.
