This looks a good race but I’m keen to side with the hat-trick seeking MINELLA HUB. This horse has only had the five starts under Rules and has taken his form up a notch since handicapping over fences winning readily at Plumpton in January before following up over the same track and trip last month. He remains open to further progress and even under a 10lb rise I think he remains the one to beat. Clear The Runway impressed at Musselburgh landing a big gamble in the process but he failed to follow up last time and will likely need more again here. Across The Line is the likely pace angle and I think that will help the selection as he is a strong travelling sort so he could be even better getting carried into the race. Out On The Tear doesn’t really look to have much in hand off his mark so will need to be at his very best to get involved.

With the front pair nicely clear I thought that was a good run from CALL OFF THE DOGS at Fontwell last time. The winner looks on the upgrade now and they left the rest standing so it looks solid form. He steps up considerably in trip now and if bringing his stamina into play brings about further progress he could prove hard to beat here under Jamie Moore. He should enjoy the ground and that could be the key to him trying this distance for just the second time. Flaminger is the closest in the betting and that probably says a lot about the lack of quality lining up here. He is down to a good mark but I’m not sure he is screaming out for this trip. Tzar De L’elfe could end up being the biggest danger as he is at least consistent but his strike rate would have to be a worry. Minella Examiner best of the rest but has a fair bit to prove.
