Steve Ryder is back with three selections for today's action with two runners at Wetherby and one at Market Rasen.
13:00 Market Rasen
The Adam West trained PRESUMING ED (best priced at 5/2) faces rivals who are struggling for recent form and he should prove hard to beat dropped back down in class. The seven-year-old has form figures of 12122 in handicap hurdles including two victories at this course over a slightly shorter trip.
Presuming Ed finished 2nd on his latest start behind an odds on favourite off this mark but connections now use talented 3lb claimer Archie Bellamy for this race. He drops from a Class 3 0-135 handicap down into a Class 4 0-110 handicap and he should prove hard to beat.
15:46 Wetherby
This looks an open Novices’ Handicap Chase and preference goes to the Charlie Longsdon trained CASTLE ROBIN (best priced at 3/1). The seven-year-old is 2/4 over fences so far this season with two chase victories at Exeter and Doncaster. His latest victory came off a mark of 130 when beating Geryville by 4 ¼ lengths and he is only 2lb higher in this race.
The form of his latest victory has been boosted by Geryville winning at Newcastle so he looks well handicapped off only 2lbs higher and I expect Castle Robin to prove hard to beat.
16:56 Wetherby
The Harry Whittington trained FITZ IN (best priced at 4/1) has been beaten 79 lengths, 66 lengths and 32 lengths in novice hurdles at odds of 18/1, 125/1 and 100/1 but looks extremely interesting on his handicap debut upped in trip following a wind operation.
The six-year-old finished a close 2nd in a PTP over 3 miles so this step up in trip from 2m4f to 3 miles will suit him well and a mark of 84 could seriously underestimate him. His runs so far have been on soft and heavy ground so this faster ground could suit him better and I expect a much improved performance on his handicap debut.
