Despite having not won this season GALAHAD QUEST (best price 11/4) still has some very solid form to his name and he continues to acquit himself well in defeat. Connections pitched him into quite a deep race at Kempton last time on his first try over 3 miles and he wasn’t disgraced finishing fifth. He drops in both trip and class here and off a mark just 3lb above his last winning mark I think he is going to run a big race here. He should find this much easier and if the track suits 11/4 could be generous. Grand Sancy will also find this easier than recent assignments so it’s no surprise to see him figuring prominently in the betting. Kap Auteuil took really well to fences winning 5 of his 7 starts but showed very little back over hurdles at Ascot and needs to get back on track reverting to this sphere here.

I’m taking a bit of a chance on one at Wolverhampton on Saturday in the shape of NATIONAL CHARTER (best price 11/4) for William Haggas. This Lawman filly hasn’t achieved a great deal in 3 starts to date but given the promise of her debut effort when fourth at Lingfield and the fact she ran in a race that has worked out really well at Southwell last time she could be ready to take a big step forward on handicap debut. A lowly mark of just 64 should underestimate her and it would be no surprise at all to see her a cut above this field. I’m expecting her to improve plenty and this step up to a mile and a half for the first time is sure to suit. Away Wit Da Fairys wasn’t disgraced when third at Southwell and looks the obvious threat on form. Foreshadow is another one that remains interesting and should go well.
