The Henry De Bromhead trained Rosslare Strand (best priced at 10/3) made a really encouraging debut at Fairyhouse on her only start as a juvenile and she should prove hard to beat if she has progressed over the winter. The daughter of Zoffany finished a close 3rd behind the now 99 rated Pennine Hills and 106 rated Group 3 winner Concert Hall on debut before having a 263 day break.

Rosslare Strand faces Past Time and Radiyka in this race and with those only rated 83 and 84 respectively, she should prove hard to beat if she can replicate the form of her debut run.

Trainer Johnny Murtagh won the Irish Lincolnshire yesterday with a stable debutant and I am hoping he can win this handicap with Half Nutz (best priced at 5/2) on his first start for the yard. The five-year-old was a three time course and distance winner when trained by Sheila Lavery off marks of 77, 77 and 76 but this rating of 81 shouldn’t be beyond him.

The handicapper raised Half Nutz 5lbs for his latest victory in October when he was a comfortable 1 ¾ length winner and he should prove hard to beat with Ben Coen taking the ride.

The Irish raider Vera Verto (best priced at 5/2) justified her short price in a maiden hurdle at Navan last time but it is the form of her penultimate start that makes her interesting on his handicap debut. The Gavin Cromwell trained four-year-old finished 5th at Punchestown in a maiden hurdle in January and the form of that run has been boosted since. The fourth Brazil won the Boodles Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival off a mark of 137 where the second HMS Seahorse finished 4th off a mark of 128.

Vera Verto makes her handicap debut off a mark of 119 which looks very generous and she should prove hard to beat with Luke Dempsey coming over for the ride.
