15:00 Lingfield

I know THE MAD MONK (best price  could only finish sixth on his return tackling handicap company for the first time last month but that run wasn’t without promise. It was his first start following a gelding operation too and given he was slowly away to be beaten just 2 and a quarter lengths was a good effort. The form looks decent too given the fifth Bulleit has won since and even the seventh Solanna has also gone in. A mark of 45 underestimates this 3yo and if he improves he is going to run a big race under Hayley Turner. Safety First looks the danger following a good second at Wolverhampton last time. I’m not sure she is the most genuine though so I’d be cautious at a short enough price. Vintage Fashion remains unexposed so may end up emerging as the main danger to the selection.

19:15 Chelmsford

With two wins from her last three starts Bated Breath filly CUBAN BREEZE (best price 3/1) looks worth siding with again at Chelmsford on Thursday night. She has really come into her own since joining this yard and even up a further 7lb I think she is going to be hitting the line best. She was quite impressive last time and still looks to be improving. Buick has been booked for the ride which has to be seen as a big positive. Expert Opinion missed by just a neck last time and has to be feared off the back of that but he does have a wide draw to negotiate which makes life tougher. La Roca Del Fuego is a four-time course winner who would be dangerous off the front but there is a lot of pace on here which means he is unlikely to get his own way. Atiyah perhaps best of the rest if taking to the surface for the first time.
