15:05 Lingfield
I think it’s worth chancing DUBAI LADY (best price 9/4) to bounce back at Lingfield on Saturday. She was backed like defeat was out the question at Newcastle last time but failed to give her running and finished lame. She still brings a lot of potential to the table and if back to her best she can serve it up to these. I’ll be surprised if she isn’t better than an opening mark of 75 and she will likely be well backed for this. Sayifyouwill is chasing a hat-trick and she has impressed recently but she might just find the selection too well handicapped to peg back. Marco Botti’s filly Valentinka shouldn’t be entirely ruled out as she was only beaten a length into second last time but I’m not sure how much if any she has in hand of the assessor. Verreaux Eagle is also capable but needs everything to drop right.
14:52 Chepstow
After just a handful of starts under Rules BENITO (best price 11/4) looks a good bet to make the breakthrough at Chepstow on Saturday. He has been a work in progress but I thought he caught the eye when third up in trip at Newcastle back in December. I know he failed to back that up to some extent at Warwick last time but he got a bit stuck in the mud on that occasion and a combination of this track and the better ground can see him take a big step forward. I’m confident he’ll prove better than an 88-rated horse and it’s no surprise to see him figuring prominently in the betting. Tom Lacey is operating at a 25% strike rate in the past fortnight so that also has to be a plus. Post No Bills is another one I could see improving so he might emerge as the danger. Like the selection Floy Joy should also appreciate this better ground.
