15:35 Kelso

I’ve been a fan of BAVINGTON BOB for a while now and I’m not about to desert him here! He has won his last 3 in a row and looks set to bring up the four-timer at Kelso on Monday. I know he is up another 5lb but I thought he had more in the tank if needed when winning a shade cosily the last day and I rate the second Equus Dreamer as a decent yardstick. His jumping seems to improve the further he goes and I think however this pans out again he will be the one finishing best. Ann Hamilton continues to produce these quality horses for such a small stable and they are usually worth following. Broadway Joe himself is likeable but he is finding a tendency to find one too good having finished runner-up the last 3 times. I think that may well be the case again here. Of the rest Marown remains lightly raced for his age but he did pull up last time so has enough to prove here.

Experience should count for plenty here and I thought there was enough promise in that debut third to make TRUE ACCOLADE a strong play here. He was way too keen early and ran about a bit when asked to try and settle the race. It struck me as a ‘first day at school’ kind of performance and he should know a lot more now. He is bred to be pretty useful being by New Approach and I think we’ll see a different horse here. Definitely, one to keep on side and the only negative I can see about him is his price as the bookies have taken no chances at 6/4 which is a bit of a shame. Salvatore Mundi was a place behind the selection last time and is promising himself but I’m struggling to see him reversing that as they are both going to improve. Loving And Giving looks the most intriguing newcomer and I do love them Normandie Stud silks. I’ll be interested to see how he fares against these first-up.
