Second place from the Supreme at Cheltenham and the defending champion in the Marsh Chase make our most backed list for Day 2 of the Grand National Festival at Aintree.
Fakir D'Oudairies
Fakir D'Oudairies is the most backed horse for Day 2 of the Grand National Festival at Aintree since the final declarations were made on Wednesday.
The five-time chase winner, most recently at Ascot in February, is the clear favourite for the Grade 1 Marsh Chase ahead of Funambule Sivola and Sceau Royal. He romped to an 11-length victory in this race last year.
The seven-year-old was originally lined up to challenge Allaho in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham before connections decided to keep him fresh for Aintree. At the time of writing, he’s received 9.19% of the backing for all horses on Day 2 and 56.80% of the bets on the Marsh Chase.
Jonbon
The subject of much debate over his participation at Aintree, Jonbon has been well backed since being declared for the Top Novices’ Hurdle. Nicky Henderson’s six-year-old is teetering on the wrong side of Evens from a punter perspective but does remain best price 11/10 through oddschecker.
Jonbon finished second to rampant stablemate Constitution Hill in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham, his only defeat so far after starting with four wins (three over hurdles). He finds himself in 58.12% of the betslips for the Top Novices’ Hurdle (9.05% of all bets for the day at Aintree).
Langer Dan
The third most backed horse for Friday at Aintree is Langer Dan, not seen since unseating Lorcan Williams in the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle on the final day at the Cheltenham Festival. He had been well backed for that having finished second to Galopin Des Champs in the same race last year.
The six-year-old, trained by Dan Skelton, has three wins and three seconds in 12 outings over hurdles. He has been backed in 27.02% of the bets for the Aintree Handicap Hurdle (Speech Bubble next with 12.72%) and 5.26% of those across the full day’s racecard.
