Andy Holding Selection for 13:50 Newmarket
POCKET THE PROFIT (best price 5-2) did have the benefit of racing around the favourable inside of the track at Pontefract on his seasonal bow, but either way, he was still incredibly impressive, and he’s fancied to take advantage of his current wellbeing and keep the ball rolling for his in-form handler.
A big improver towards the backend of last season, it’s never easy for sprinter to continue where they left off but on the evidence of what we witnessed eight days ago, George Boughey’s gelding seems better than ever. The way he quickened up off a solid gallop at the Yorkshire venue suggested he has improved over the winter and even though there’s a small question mark over today’s quicker surface, he still may have the necessary qualities to offset that slight unknown.

George Gamble Selection for Liverpool vs Benfica
Fresh off the back of an enthralling 2-2 draw away to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, Liverpool now turns their attention to navigating their way past Benfica and into the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time since winning it back in 2018/19. They’ll feel confident that they can do just that given the form they’re currently in. They’ve also not lost to Portuguese opposition at Anfield since 2005/2006 (W4, D2) and despite the fact Jurgen Klopp is likely to make changes, it’s hard to look past a home victory. With the hosts also preparing for another mouthwatering tie against Manchester City in the FA Cup this coming weekend, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see some key players given a rest here.
Benfica have had no difficulty finding the back of the net and have notched in 13 of their last 14 away games in all competitions. They’ll likely look to exploit a much-changed Liverpool side as they go hunting for an early goal to give them a chance of clawing back the tie. However, Liverpool have superb strength in depth and should still be able to pick their moments and see off ‘As Águias’. I’ll have a point on a home win and both teams to score.
