Steve Ryder is back with four tips for today's action.
14:00 Newcastle
The David Simcock trained BLESS HIM (best priced at 10-1) has a good record at Newcastle and he should outrun his odds in this race. The eight-year-old has form figures of 121 at the track including a victory last time over 7f under a stereotypical Jamie Spencer ride.
That victory was in a handicap off a mark of 96 so Bless Him has a few pounds to find with the likes of My Oberon and Amilcar off level weights and the way this race will be run should suit him well. Bookmakers are offering four places on this race and I cannot see him out of the frame.
14:35 Newcastle
VENTUROUS (best priced at 16-1) has form figures of 01211611 at the track and comes into the race having won twice in 2022. The nine-year-old outran odds of 25/1 to win a conditions race over 5f here in January before defeating the reopposing Judicial in a another conditions race over 6f here last month.
On both occasions Venturous was given a confident ride by Connor Beasley making good headway from the rear and I think he is really solid with up to five places available.
15:20 Chelmsford
PIPS TUNE (best priced at 10-3) is unpenalised for his latest course and distance victory last week and he should prove hard to beat from 3lbs “well in” at the weights. The John O’Shea trained four-year-old arrives into this race in form having won his previous three starts at the course with his only defeat coming on turf at Doncaster when 2nd.
Pips Tune is well drawn to attempt to make all again from Stall 1 and hopefully Callum Hutchinson can get him into a good early position. His main rival for the lead is Boasty but that rival is drawn in Stall 12 so could struggle to get across from that wide draw and therefore I prefer the chances of Pips Tune who I think will prove hard to beat.
15:30 Lingfield
The Amanda Perrett trained SAYIFYOUWILL (best priced at 4-1) in unbeaten in her three starts in 2022 and she should hold strong claims of completing a four-timer in this race. The four-year-old has won both of her starts over this course and distance in her career including a stylish victory 13 days when she defeated Flame Of Freedom by a head.
Rob Hornby gets on well with Sayifyouwill and he will have to be at his best to get her into a good position from Stall 1 in order not to have her too far back in this relatively large field. She steps up in class to a 0-85 handicap but looks progressive and should run well.
