At the Craven Stakes, all eyes were on the unbeaten and odds-on favourite Native Trail for the boys in blue and he undeniably strengthened his case as the one they all have to beat in the 2000 Guineas with a dominant performance in the hands of William Buick. 

We learnt was that he had no issue stepping up to a mile, as he travelled beautifully. Once William asked him to lengthen and go through the gears, the response was immediate as he powered away to a comfortable three-and-a-half length win extending his unbeaten record to five.

Native Trail (best price 5/4) has been backed in 38.61% of the ante-post bet slips for the 2000 Guineas through oddschecker. At the time of writing, odds are shortening with two bookmakers and we could see odds continue to shorten in the next seven days leading up to the festival. If you want to back Native Trail this could be the best chance before a movement to odds on perhaps.

Inspiral

Our second selection of this special Guineas Festival 2022 Ante-Post Double is INSPIRAL. She remains unbeaten after four wins from as many starts during a stellar two-year-old campaign; her final run of the season was success in the Group One Fillies' Mile.

Inspiral leads the way in the betting but only just to Tenebrism. The Cheveley Park colours have been prominent this season and are doing smartly in the flat so far.

However, Inspiral’s trainer John and Thady Gosden don’t have anywhere near the same strike rate as last year and have only won four out of 32 entries in the past fortnight. Inspiral hasn’t been seen since October 2021 when winning the Group 1 bet365 Fillies’ Mile over the Newmarket mile with Frankie Dettori on board.
