The good looking WHISTLE AND FLUTE created quite a big impression winning on debut at Bath earlier this month. I thought he travelled up strongly but still showed signs of inexperience and was eventually encouraged to take it up and stayed on strongly through the line. He only really looked to be winding up at the finish so this stiff 5f should be right up his street with that under his belt. He pulled 2 and a half lengths clear from the second and they were clear from the third with the field well strung out. He’ll need to improve to remain unbeaten but I’m fairly certain he will and he looks a nice prospect. The danger looks to be Oasis Dream filly Fragrance who caught the eye finishing runner-up on debut at Newmarket. The winner looked a nice colt so it wasn’t a bad effort by any means but she might end up setting it up for the selection.

I can see EILEAN DUBH (best price 2/1) going off quite short here as he won with a bit up his sleeve at Newcastle last month and the runner-up had won a decent race prior to that so the form stacks up for me. If he can settle a little better he will be capable of even more and he gets a confident vote to take this out. My only concern here is the lack of pace on so I can see him going forward and even potentially leading if they try and go slow early. The danger is likely Yanifer who wasn’t disgraced on debut for his new yard last time and will give the selection something to think about if building on that. Tangled definitely needs a strong gallop so I doubt this scenario will suit. He is just 1lb above his last winning mark though so still has to enter calculations. Global Spirit, Ramiro and Valorant all look up against it to me.
