Captain Kane

This looks a decent opportunity for CAPTAIN KANE (best price 2/1) to bring up the hat-trick. This son of Ulysses clocked a career best following up his Southwell win over C&D last time and a 3lb rise doesn’t look enough to stop him. His form is progressive and this field looks beatable. George Scott has had 3 winners from his last 9 runners so the yard are in good form right now. The Gurkha filly Cicely likes this C&D with both her career wins coming over track and trip so she looks the danger. She did run poorly at Lingfield when last seen though so has more to prove than the selection. Definitely the danger if bouncing back returned to this venue. Copperplate has been gelded and should have more to come in handicaps. Gurkhali Warrior ran well behind the selection last time and might not be too far away again.

Carolus Magnus has fitness on side but I still think LEGEND OF DUBAI (best price 5/2) can beat him on return. This Dubawi colt is well bred and has some strong form to his name as a 2yo chasing home the likes of Guru, River Alwen and Lone Eagle. He won as he should have on sole start as a 3yo at Ffos Las and he is likely to have done well with another year under his belt. He drops back to a mile which should suit and he looks a nice prospect for the season ahead. Dingle was only beaten a length at Lingfield last time but this looks tougher so he’ll need to find more off his current mark. Menai Bridge is likeable but again he lacks the potential of one or two in here. Eilean Dubh shaped well in defeat on Wednesday but isn’t certain to take his chance here and if he does this looks a good race so he’ll need to improve.
