The likeable JUST THE MAN (best price 11/4) bumped into a progressive horse in the shape of Sayadam latest and given the pair pulled 11 lengths clear from the rest I think connections have found a good opportunity for him to get back to winning ways. This mark still looks within reach and I’m keen to keep him on side for now. Kevin Brogan claims a handy 3lb and all looks in place for another big run. Coolnaugh Haze won readily at Huntingdon last time but was held by the selection prior to that and is up 8lb which looks a bit harsh to me. Sofia’s Rock might be a bigger danger if he matches recent form but he was beaten off this mark last time. Chasamax is likely to come on for the run and Aliomaana while she’ll be suited by this sharper track has a bit to prove on the balance of her form and is passed over once more.

The hat-trick may well be on the cards for the progressive SAINTE DOCTOR (best price 15/8) at Plumpton on Sunday. She has really taken her form up a notch recently running on well to beat a decent yardstick in Puffin Bay over track and trip last month. She is up another 7lb but she could easily improve again and if she does I think she’ll have these rivals in trouble. Reserve Tank has largely struggled this season and I know he is a previous graded winner but he looks gone at the game and was beaten 18 lengths at Chepstow when last seen. Smurphy Enki could be the danger as the handicapper has given him a chance and he is 2-2 at the track which has to be a plus. Thibault has been mixing it with some decent horses and is another one to note but again if the selection progresses again they all have enough to find.
