This is wide open but I’m quite keen on one at a double-figure price in the shape of EILEAN DUBH (best price 10/1). This colt showed improved form to win at Newcastle in March despite racing keenly. I thought under a better ride he would have gone close at Pontefract and while he didn’t back that up at Newmarket last month he just pulled his chance away and I’m happy to put a line through that. This big field will suit as hopefully he can get covered up early before picking his way through. He still has potential off this handicap mark and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him one of the gambles of the race. Gweedore returned with a win at Musselburgh and is the right favourite. I think he’ll put up the most resistance but A Boy Named Ivy also has to be considered on recent form. Of the rest Stately Home is noted but a 6lb rise demands more in a race like this.
