13:50 Newmarket

The market favours the untapped potential of Ottoman Fleet in this listed Fairway Stakes but I much prefer the chances of Post Impressionist (best priced at 7/2) at the prices. The William Haggas trained gelding finished a close 2nd on his debut at Nottingham in April despite running green, missing the break and having to race wide throughout the contest.

Post Impressionist went one better at Ayr on his next start to get off the mark and he looked to be really getting the hang of things in the closing stages. He looks full of potential and I would prefer to back him over Ottoman Fleet whose form behind stablemate Natural World was somewhat let down by that horse in the Lingfield Derby trial.

16:40 Thirsk

The David & Nicola Barron trained Another Batt (best priced at 4/1) has won both of his starts at Thirsk in his career, including this race last season, and he should prove hard to beat back at this track. The seven-year-old has won off marks of 93 and 90 at this track but has previously been rated as high as 107 in his career so he remains well handicapped off a mark of 92.

Another Batt has finished beaten less than five lengths on his three starts this season at Doncaster, Musselburgh and Newmarket but will now be suited by this return to Thirsk and he should hold strong claims of a repeat victory in this race.

Another Batt - 1pt

Bookmark (best priced at 7/4) ran well on her stable debut for David Loughnane last time at Pontefract and she should prove hard to beat in this race off the same mark. The four-year-old filly was bought for 23,000gns from The Queen at the end of last season and she ran well to finish 3rd only beaten a length at Pontefract on her reappearance.

That was over 1m2f on her first run for 190 days and she now steps back up in trip to nearly 1m4f which should suit her well. She was beaten a length that day so the fact she runs off the same mark of 70 in this race looks lenient and I expect her to prove hard to beat with the benefit of that good recent run.
