Andy Holding Selection (14:40 Nottingham)

YAGOOD (NAP) (best price 5/2) really appreciated the step back up to two miles when only narrowly denied at Doncaster last time out and now heading back to a track that has served him well in the past, Joseph Parr’s gelding rates a strong choice in his bid to find the back of the net.

Sent off the 7-4 on Town Moor following a promising effort the time before on the all-weather, the son of Teofilo got going too late in his bid to land the gamble, but at the same time, he did more than enough to suggest his winning turn wasn’t too far away again. A cosy winner in fast time on his first visit to today’s track last year, the six-year-old was undone by a slow pace and two furlongs shorter when attempting to repeat the dose a month later, but at least it was another performance to point out how well he enjoys the galloping nature of Colwick Park. Likely to be given a patient ride, even more so with Jamie Spencer on board, the chestnut will need the breaks to come at the right time down the home straight, but providing they do, he’s more than capable of outrunning his opponents in the final half a mile.

George Gamble's Southampton vs Liverpool Selection

Liverpool will want to put as much pressure as they can on Manchester City, who stumbled last time out away to West Ham United. But it won’t be easy and they come into this one on just two days' rest which means this could be an interesting matchup.

The hosts have been pretty poor since the turn of the year and are conceding goals for fun, however, in the five home matches they’ve played against the other sides currently in the top six this season, they’ve hit the back of the net in four of them. The visitors will be without Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of their defence and Liverpool look much weaker without him in the backline.

Jurgen Klopp has the luxury of an abundance of quality in his squad and whilst his side will likely claim victory here, Southampton can create chances and hit the back of the net at least once.

I’ll take Liverpool to win with both teams scoring for half a point.
