A decent renewal of the Height Of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood on Friday and it does look between the top 2 in the betting having both won so impressively last time. I do prefer SEA SILK ROAD (best price 5/2) of the pair for William Haggas. This Sea The Stars filly had just the 1 start as a 2yo finishing down the field at Kempton but that run wasn’t without promise. She obviously did really well over the winter and returned with an impressive performance running on strongly to win at Nottingham earlier this month. She is bred to come into her own over this trip and I think she can reward connections for their patience. Frankel filly Emotion is the obvious threat having powered away to win by 16 lengths at Kempton last time. Hard to know what the form is worth and she has to transfer that back to turf but still clearly has a bright future. Eternal Pearl showed potential when fourth on debut and is best of the rest but likely needs more time.

14:30 Haydock

Silvestre De Sousa was quoted on Sky Sports Racing on Thursday saying he was looking forward to riding FLOTUS (best price 11/4) at Haydock on Friday and it’s easy to see why. This filly by Starspangledbanner won twice as a 2yo and was largely progressive capping off a profitable campaign with a big run when beaten a length at the top level in the Cheveley Park behind Tenebrism. She was restless in the stalls on return at Newmarket and I felt she ran her race before the off. If that freshness is out of her and they can keep a lid on her in the prelims she is going to be tough to beat here. She still has plenty of potential and I’m expecting her to prove a cut above this level. Sense Of Duty is unexposed and won head in chest at Redcar on return. This obviously requires a big step up and she lacks experience but could easily still be the danger. Gale Force Maya is very consistent and again is likely to run her race so won’t be far away either.
