Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
The market favours the debut effort of the Andrew Balding trained Chasseral but I was quite taken by the effort of ANGELIC DIVAS (best priced at 7/2) and I feel she has a strong chance of upsetting the favourite. The Roger Teal trained daughter of Ardad finished 3rd on her debut in a conditions race at Salisbury earlier this month and the form of that run has been boosted by the winner Katey Kontent following up under a 6lb penalty at Windsor on her next start.
Angelic Divas was only beaten ¾ length that day despite being slowly away at the start and she should step forward from that debut effort with Rossa Ryan taking over on board.
Although this trip of 1m6f looks sure to suit recent winner Decidious, I prefer the chances of MOONLIT WARRIOR (best priced at 5/2) who is the only distance winner in this five runner field. The Michael Bell trained gelding showed very little in his first three career starts but benefitted from a step up in trip on handicap debut to win at Chelmsford off a mark of 56.
Moonlit Warrior followed up at Wetherby off a 3lb higher mark last month beating the same rival Satanic Moon by further under worse terms. The handicapper has raised Moonlit Warrior 6lbs for that victory which seems fair and the son of Sea The Moon can progress again to win this.
With the short priced favourite Brayden Star an early NR this morning, this looks a good opportunity for BROADSPEAR (best priced at 2/1) to get off the mark on his handicap debut. The Roger Varian trained colt finished beaten favourite on all three of his starts in maiden/novice company but now looks interesting on his handicap debut off an opening mark of 81.
Broadspear stayed on strongly at the finish over a mile at Thirsk last time when 2nd by ½ length suggesting that this step up in trip to 1m2f for his handicap debut would suit well. The field is full of unexposed rivals but he is clearly well regarded at home and should prove better than an opening mark of 81.
