13:40 Wolverhampton

Acclamation colt ZERO CARBON (best price 3/1) shaped with plenty of encouragement when third on debut at Chelmsford last month and the form of that maiden has worked out notably well since. The winner Open Mind was beaten just a neck next time out and the second Phinow won a fiercely competitive race here next time. He should be a lot more streetwise now and with this extra furlong also in his favour he looks the most likely winner for me. The Green Man has also shown enough ability to be a big player here so looks the danger. Islay Of Anglesey also finished third on debut and can improve but Roger Varian just looks to be struggling for winners recently so that was enough to put me off. How Much Further is the most interesting of the debutants but he would only be seriously considered if the market was strong on his chances.

17:10 Windsor

I think it might be worth chancing SILKS PASS (best price 3/1) at Windsor on Monday evening. He was only beaten 4 lengths on handicap debut where he was just too keen to see the race out with any real conviction. He is still learning his trade and if he can drop his head better back down a furlong in trip we could see an improved performance. I’m confident he can prove better than a mark of just 73 but it’s just whether he is streetwise enough at this stage of his career. Aphelios is the solid one having finished 322 in his career so far. He only went down narrowly last time in a race where the winner had it all go his own way. He has more to come so looks the danger. Obtain was down the field at Bath but that was her first run following a wind op so she could come on from that and take a hand but will need to improve as this is competitive.
