The Kerry Lee trained DO IT FOR THY SEN (best priced at 6/4) won this race last season and he should prove hard to beat off a 2lb higher mark. The eight-year-old won twice over this course and distance last season by five lengths off a mark of 99 and eight lengths in this race off a mark of 104. Since then, he has struggled off marks as high as 113 but bounced back to form last month to finish a close 2nd at Chepstow off a mark of 104.

The handicapper has raised Do It For Thy Sen 2lb for that effort but he still remains well handicapped off this mark of 106 and he should prove hard to beat with Richard Patrick once again on board.

With form figures of 0000 over hurdles so far in his career you would think UNANSWERED (best priced at 9/4) would be worth taking on as favourite in this race but he could prove extremely well handicapped given his recent improvement on the flat. The five-year-old got off the mark in his career on the flat at Limerick last month off a mark of 46 before following up at Gowran Park 13 days ago off a mark of 55 by 2 ¼ lengths.

The handicapper has raised Unanswered 9lb for that comfortable victory meaning he is now rated 64 and that new flat mark makes him look extremely well handicapped over hurdles off a mark of 89. This better ground will suit him a lot better than his previous run over hurdles and he should prove hard to beat.

It was great to see Dermot Weld win the Irish 1000 Guineas on Sunday and he looks to have another exciting three-year-old filly in the shape of SUWAYRA (best priced at 9/4). The home-bred daughter of Siyouni made a winning debut at Leopardstown over a mile last season and the form of that victory has been boosted since with the runner-up Cairde Go Deo winning twice since including in a listed race by eight lengths earlier this month.

Suwayra was due to make her reappearance in the Group 3 Cornelscourt Stakes at Leopardstown earlier this month but she was in season and I am a little surprised she isn’t favourite in this weaker race. Show Of Stars sets the standard with a rating of 99 but I expect Suwayra to progress past her and I think she can remain unbeaten in this race.
