The Michael & David Easterby trained BAVARDAGES (best priced at 3/1) is 2/2 in a visor and he should prove hard to beat once again in this race. The five-year-old won in a first-time visor at Southwell in March off a mark of 63 before following up back on turf at Beverley off a mark of 59.

The handicapper has raised Bavardages 2lbs for that neck victory up to a mark of 61 so he is still well handicapped in comparison to his mark of 68 on the AW and can hopefully make it a hat-trick of wins since being fitted with a visor.

The David & Nicola Barron trained OTTO OYL (best priced at 6/4) has won twice so far in 2022 and he should hold strong claims of following up from 5lbs “well in” at the weights. The four-year-old won at Southwell in March off a mark of 54 before finishing a close 2nd at Nottingham earlier this month off a mark of 56.

Otto Oyl won an apprentice handicap at Ayr a week ago by 3 ¼ lengths under Rhonda Pindar and she gets to claim 7lbs in this race. The handicapper has raised him 5lbs for his victory last time but he gets to run off his previous mark of 56 in a 0-55 handicap off top weight and I expect him to prove hard to beat.

Otto Oyl - 1pt @ 6/4

The William Haggas stable remain in fantastic form with them currently operating at a 41% strike rate and I feel that PERSIST (best priced at 5/2) can continue that good run. The extremely well bred daughter of Frankel and Persuasive has been sent off favourite for all three of her starts so far but can hopefully make a winning reappearance this season.

Persist has run with credit on her previous starts when only beaten 3 lengths, 1 ¼ lengths and a neck and those performances have earnt her an official rating of 78. That puts her joint top rated with Banned who has the benefit of a recent run but I expect Persist to progress past her and get off the mark at the fourth attempt.

Persist - 1pt @ 5/2
