GYTO's Sunday notebook double pays 10/1.
I think it may pay to give WETANWINDY another chance at Fontwell on Sunday. This horse impressed getting his head in front at Wincanton back in March and while he hasn’t visited the winners enclosure again since he has run creditably in defeat. He was given a mountain to climb at Newton Abbot last time but stayed on strongly for second. I still think he has races in him off his current mark and this looks a good opportunity on paper. Morgenstern isn’t straightforward but does have ability and looks the danger. He has found one too good the last twice though and that may well be how this turns out again here. Game Socks is likeable but he was well held off this mark when last of 3 at Stratford last time. He has been freshened up since but has enough to prove at present.
Great chance for LORD ROYAL to get back on track at Punchestown on Sunday. He was just struggling to land a blow in much better company than this when last seen over fences but given time since and returning in a race like this there shouldn’t be too many excuses. The last time he ran in a beginners’ chase was at Navan in January last year and he missed by less than a length. The stable also saddle Five O’Clock but with Paul Townend booked for the ride on the selection he is clearly their number 1 pick. I think he’ll have too much for these rivals and 9/4 looks a price worth taking at the time of writing. Everglow wasn’t disgraced when last seen finishing fifth behind Floueur at Fairyhouse. He could emerge as the main danger to the selection. Tullybeg also has to be respected back over fences.
