Following an 11/4 winner and 7/4 winner yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
15:40 Newbury
The Jonny Portman trained FALESIA BEACH (best priced at 7/1) has finished 2nd on her previous three starts and should once again hold strong claims in this race. The three-year-old was only beaten a length at Kempton in a maiden in April before finishing a head 2nd at Lingfield on her handicap debut off a mark of 71.
Falesia Beach finished 2nd again last time at Wolverhampton off the same mark of 71 and she gets to contest this race off the same mark once again. This will be her first start on turf which is a slight unknown but I expect her to run well with four places on offer.
16:20 Brighton
The Tony Carroll trained DE VEGAS KID (best priced at 6/4) has shown lots of good form at Brighton in his career with four wins and four seconds including when runner-up over 7f here earlier this month. The eight-year-old has won off marks as high as 79 in the past so his current mark of 62 means he is extremely well handicapped on previous form.
De Vegas Kid had been out of form so far in 2022 but appreciated the drop in class to a 0-60 handicap where he was only beaten ½ length at the finish. He was slightly hampered in the race before staying on well at the finish over 7f and this step up a mile should suit him better. The handicapper has raised him 2lbs which is fair and I expect him to prove hard to beat.
16:30 Leicester
This looks a competitive 0-75 handicap but preference goes to the bottom weight AT LIBERTY (best priced at 13/8) who ran well to finish 2nd off this mark 6 days ago. The Michael Bell trained three-year-old was gelded over the winter and returned with a good 4th at Yarmouth off a mark of 65.
At Liberty ran well to finish 2nd last time at Ripon when upped in trip to 1m4f for the first time where he just appeared to get outstayed late on. He finished only ½ a length behind the winner that day but gets to run off the same mark only six days later and should prove hard to beat back down in trip to 1m2f.
