With Mcqueen now out this looks a great chance for THE MAD MONK (best price 15/8) to resume his progress. He got his head in front at Lingfield back in March winning despite racing keenly and backed that up with an impressive performance to win at Southwell in April. Things didn’t pan out at Kempton but he certainly wasn’t disgraced in fifth and this stiff finish here should be right up his street stepping back up to a mile. This looks very winnable on paper so even at 15/8 I make him good value to come away with the prize. Say Goodnight didn’t run badly at Redcar and that looked a strong race so if she finds further improvement now handicapping she could be the danger but an opening mark of 62 looks stiff enough. Aurelia Gold was only beaten 2 lengths at Bath last time and if she can build on that she might not be far away either.
